Music at LCM
The ministry of music at Lutheran Church of the Master strives to enhance worship through music, provide an opportunity for people to offer themselves in service to God and to reach out to the wider community.
Music at our services is principally classical in style while also embracing the best of contemporary music as well as music from other cultures. Services are enhanced by a Schantz pipe organ and a Baldwin concert grand piano. Additionally handbells, hand chimes, and other various percussion instruments are often heard throughout the service. We are also honored to have guest instrumentalists frequently join the choir and soloists in musical offerings.
Choir
The LCM Choir meets every Thursday for rehearsal and sings every Sunday from just after Labor Day to mid June. The choir is made up of both volunteer and professional singers and it welcomes new members throughout the year.
In addition to the normal Sunday worship, the choir throughout the season participate in special holiday services including Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. For special occasions, the choir will also perform major works which some examples include Requiem For The Living by Dan Forest and excerpts from Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio “Elijah.”
During the summer when the choir is not in session, soloists from within the choir will offer special music from week to week.
